WPCampus depends on volunteers to bring our events to life.
If you're interested in volunteering, please read through the volunteer roles and complete the volunteer registration form to let us know more about your availability and interest.
After you submit the form, we'll be in touch with more information, including volunteer orientations. All volunteer-related emails will come from volunteers[at]wpcampus.org so make sure this email address is not marked as spam in your inbox.
Our community is so grateful for your support and excited to have you join our organizing team for the event.
How to become a volunteer
If you wish to be a volunteer, the following actions are required:
- Read the volunteer roles (listed on this page)
- Submit the volunteer registration form
- This will let us know what roles you’re interested in and when you’re available during the event.
The Program Selection committee reviews all proposals and works together to build the program schedule. This role requires around 10 hours of time, which includes time to read each proposal and attend committee meetings to discuss proposals and build the program schedule. This time will begin when proposals close on
May 26 May 31 and will end when the schedule has been built.
Room Hosts are the only volunteer role that will be on camera during the event. The Room Host ensures the presenter(s) are setup, introduces the presenter(s), and closes each session with Q&A. You will be asked to be a Room Host for the entire day, which requires your full attention. This role is only necessary during the event, however you will have to do some pre-event training and orientation to ensure you're comfortable with the streaming setup and event timeline. This role can be quite intensive while its happening but its loads of fun.
Room Moderators monitor the chat in the session and point attendees in the right direction. Duties include making sure attendees know where to ask questions for the presenter, pasting boilerplate informative text before, during, and after each session, watching for/reporting Code of Conduct violations, and reporting event-related issues. This role is only required during the event for the volunteer's assigned sessions.
Presenter Wranglers ensure that presenters are available, at their computer, and have completed setup and testing procedures prior to their session. This role is only required during the event for the volunteer's assigned sessions.
Slack Moderators are responsible for monitoring Slack channels during the event. Duties include answering questions, making sure discussions find the right channel, pasting boilerplate informative text when they see fit, watching for/reporting Code of Conduct violations, and reporting event-related issues. This role is only required during the event for the volunteer's assigned sessions.
Social Media Moderator
Social Media Moderators are responsible for monitoring social media channels, e.g. the #WPCampus hashtag, during the event. Duties include answering questions, watching for/reporting Code of Conduct violations, and reporting event-related issues. This role is only required during the event for the volunteer's assigned sessions.
Attending an orientation meeting will be required as this will allow us to fully explain your responsibilities and for you to ask questions. You will be given info sheets prior to the meeting.
Dates and times will be announced later.
